Beware of people who dislike cats - Irish Proverb

Desex Do Not Destroy

"I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior." -

This is Matilda, left in a shopping trolley when she was a little kitten.   She was a wonderful cat with an adventurous personality, and had helped me tame wild kittens.

Matilda was killed by a car on the morning of 2/2/09, aged 2 years 2 months. She had no fear of cars or big dogs. I would try and stop her from crossing the road when I saw her by locking her in the house. She would then proceed to rip through the fly screens to get back out. She was content to stay indoors of a night but not during the day.

She will be missed terribly! Rest in peace little Matilda.

This is Savannah aka Winky. She had her eye removed  due to a terrible eye infection that would not heal. She is from a colony of cats in Rosehill near the racetrack. There are many  vacant properties, which were once horse stables. The people who owned them sold up  leaving the undesexed cats and dogs behind.

There are many sick cats with cat flu and possibly feline aids. They have proven hard to trap  because of the size of the dilapidated properties, overgrown with weeds.

Savannah was about 10 weeks old when I caught her with her 2 brothers, Minstrel and Zamba. She was very tiny because she was sick and both eyes were infected. Zamba was tiny as well with two infected eyes, not quite as bad as Savannah's.  Minstrel was completely healthy. She is a sweet natured cat and lives in my home, with her two brothers.

Patch comes from one of the colonies across the street from me and was born to a cat who got pregnant when she was 5 months old! She had 9 kittens!

This is Lucy .She was rescued along with her day old kittens, by a lovely woman who contacted the Cat Defence for help. Iris had been feeding Lucy near a factory
where she works. She noticed Lucy could not use one of her front legs. It appeared to be  broken.  Iris took Mum and the kittens to her own home. A visit to the vet discerned Lucy had no feeling in her leg, and had probably been hit by a car. Once her kittens were adopted she had her leg amputated.  Lucy was adopted by friend of Cat Defence.

This lovely cat was hit by a car and rescued by a passerby who took her to a vet. The poor cat had sustained terrible injuries. She had a broken femur and pelvis. Only 9 months old and stray, she had already had a litter of kittens! We were able to locate 2 of the kittens. They have since been adopted, and their mother is recovering nicely.
