Desex Do Not Destroy

What We Need

Latest urgent appeal update 30/6/10.

We have two beautiful, white,  young adult cats in need of either foster care or adoption. They were left behind by tenants of a Department of Housing estate in Merrylands, NSW .  This estate is due to be bulldozed in the very near future. We did not want them to be trapped by the Council as this would be certain death for them.  We have moved them to a cattery which is only a short term solution. The cats are tame and desexed. We will provide vaccinations and microchipping, as well as food for foster carers.  If you can help please contact Susan 0403 836 443 or Lynn 9631 8126. Photos to follow.

Cat Defence Network does not have a shelter where we can keep cats till they can be rehoused. We rely on the goodwill of other cat lovers to assist us.

Urgent funds needed!

Cat Defence is in need of funds to go towards trap, neuter and return program.  There are numerous cat colonies in the Sydney Metro area. We are currently desexing a colony of cats in the Rosehill area. We do not have enough funds to continue with the urgent need. All donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible. Please can you help us to help them?

We need funds to cover food and veterinary costs urgently.

We are also in need of volunteers with their own transport to help trap cats and take them to vets located for desexing.

We need foster carers to look after litters of kittens, as well as grown cats till they can be rehomed.

We need vets to help with the desexing of cat colonies, as well as discounted desexing costs.

This is Savannah aka Winky. Her eye was removed two years ago due to a terrible eye infection that would not heal.  She comes from a colony of cats and kittens in Rosehill, near the racetrack where there are a few vacant properties which were once horse stables. The owners sold up and left the cats behind. As is unhappily all too usual, the cats were not desexed. There are now many sick cats and kittens with cat flu. These have proven difficult to trap because of the size of the properties and the dilapidated buildings and overgrown weeds. Savannah was about 10 weeks old when she was caught along with her 2 brothers, Minstrel and Zamba. She was very tiny because she was sick and both eyes were infected. Zamba was tiny as well, with two infected eyes.  His were not as bad as Savannahs's. Minstrel's, luckily, were completely healthy.

Savannah is  now comfortably settled in a member's home along with her two brothers.

There are many more cats and kittens which need to be trapped, desexed, vaccinated, and wormed.

As always, our funds are limited, so we turn to you for help.

If you can help at all it would be greatly appreciated.
